It took her a long time to realise. But when Jack allowed her to go to Atlantis, after denying Daniel for so long, she knew.
She was second best. She’d always been second best. Even way back when she’d first met Jack, when Daniel had still been on Abydos, had still been with Shau’re.
She was Jack’s second best friend, his second best confidante and most heart wrenchingly, the second, and lesser, of the loves he denied himself.
In an instant she knew she had always been second to Daniel and in another she knew that she always would be.
